Normal rubber (S B R)
General:
This is the first attempt to replace natural rubber by polymerizing monomers. SBR is derived from the butadiene and styrene emulsion polymerization. The percentage of styrene is around 23%
Technical features:
- Low cost compared to natural rubber
- Abrasion resistance (due to carbon black)
- Aging resistance
- Good resistance to alcohols and glycols
- Good dielectric properties
- Good mechanical characteristics
Defects:
- Low resistance to oils (best of all natural rubber)
- Poor resistance to oxygen, ozone and UV radiation
- Poor heat resistance, nothing to the flame
Applications:
- Mechanical: In the automotive field used to manufacture tires. In the industrial field and in the technical article it is the most used rubber, especially for the low cost and the aging resistance due to the less insaturic content in the polymer chain. Generic uses
Food: On request it is available in a food version in white coloring.
Electrical: Good dielectric properties and often used in this field
Chemical: it is always advisable to use chemical comparator teabags, since no rubber studied for contact with aggressive substances is not widely used in this field
